Aplikasi teknologi nano pada industri karet dilakukan seiring dicanangkannya konsep “Ban Ramah Lingkungan (Green Tires)†pada tahun 1990an. Penggunaan teknologi nano pada industri karet dilakukan pada pembuatan bahan pengisi nano carbon black (jenis N110, N220, N330) dan silika. Namun, proses pembuatan carbon black menimbulkan emisi CO2, sehingga perlu dikembangkan material baru pensubsitusi carbon black seperti bahan pengisi nano dari lempung (clay), silika (fumed and precipitated silica), pati (starch), selulosa, dan CaCO3. Pengembangan material baru tersebut telah banyak dilakukan dan dikomersialkan. Indonesia memiliki potensi bahan baku yang besar dan peluang pasar yang semakin berkembang sehingga industri nano filler berbahan dasar ramah lingkungan berpotensi untuk dikembangkan.Downloads
